So this past weekend I got to see my little Mini-Me of a cousin Gywn! She is literally probably the best little firecracker in the world. She is so intelligent and so funny! She calls me "My Kayla" and seriously I just adore her!
Anyways…I was playing with her (we were playing Hide & Go Seek which consisted of her counting to 10 and me not really even getting a chance to hide but she thought it was the best thing since sliced bread. And it got me thinking of how easy it was when we were kids. There was not a care in the world, and really your biggest concern was what toy to play with. I saw this thing on Pinterest the other day (let me be completely honest here 99.9% of all my conversations begin with "I saw this thing on Pinterest.") I'll post the actual thing under this post…but it basically said when we were younger we couldn't wait to grow up! It was the an unknown, and we all so desperately wanted to explore it. And at the very end it says "Remember when we were kids and couldn't wait to grow up? What were we thinking?"
Sure I love having a car, and no curfew, and being able to work towards goals that really only adults can have…but what I miss the most is that there were no broken hearts, and everything could be fixed with a hug, some ice cream, and your teddy bear…(band aids sometimes needed)…But growing up is apart of life, and if I've learned anything about the broken hearts its that they are necessary to teach you what you don't want, most hugs aren't a cure all but they do make you feel good (especially really good bear hugs given particularly by that one guy;) Ice Cream will change your life…find your favorite flavor and always lean on it (Ben and Jerry will never break your heart) and your teddy bear…it will always listen and never talk back…sometimes that's exactly what you need. Band Aids are still necessary. So as much as it is necessary to grow up….don't ever really grow up…because let's be honest it really is a trap…
Enjoy those Kakes at all ages:)
