Another day, another dollar...am I right? Well as promised here is the Earth Day Adventure of Marissa and Kayla!
We decided that it would be fun to explore Mother Nature on Her day which is April 22nd! We planned a route and were going to split driving in half and each time we filled up for gas we would switch paying! We stocked up on snacks, energy drinks (White Monsters where you at??) We had a couple of bucket list items that we wanted to check off...Instagram stalking locations are where it's at, you know you do it too! We really wanted to see Horseshoe Bend in Page, Arizona...so we figured we would start there! We drove down to Page and got there about 9:30pm Arizona time, and needed to get some supplies at Walmart, casually forgot flash lights...which were pretty necessary for where we were going to sleep...are you ready?? We slept in the Walmart parking lot next to some RVs, made a little fort in the back of Marissa's car...and tried to get some sleep as best we could! I woke up pretty early in the morning...only to find that someone parked right next to us! Out of all the parking spots, they naturally had to park RIGHT. NEXT. TO. US...it's fine really... We wanted to get up before the sun rose in order to see sunrise...we got there and boy oh boy was it worth it! Check out the photos below!

Then we really wanted to see a bridge that extends over the Colorado River...it was pretty rad, and when the light hits the water just right, it just about kills you because it's so pretty! The red rock down in Southern Utah is really unique and pretty!
Obviously...we then had to head over to Mexican Hat, Utah so we could recreate Forrest Gump's epic run through the area :) It is a really cool spot to drive through, because it is mostly flat with with these crazy tall rock formations sticking up out of nowhere! Definitely a must see, and I would even suggest stopping (we didn't have time but it would be well worth it) We met some really cool people from across the pond and took some fun pictures of us, and we switched the favor and they were in the middle of the road doing planks and yoga poses! Meanwhile, Marissa and I couldn't even get a cute jumping picture (not #blessed)
Last but certainly not least we decided to hit up Arches National Park! Which I will say is a must see!! We got there kinda late in the day, so we decided to do Delicate Arch (RIP to our calves) that hike is no joke :) after a solid 3 hours up and back with time to take pictures we wanted to see Windows and Double Arch! We wanted to stay for sunset, but ended up deciding against it because we had been up since 4:30am...and I was tasked with driving back from Arches! It was like we entered another world once we got in the park! Hello Mars!
After a rather scary drive back up to Salt Lake, we got home safely, pretty late...showered and passed out! I was tired to say the least...then the unthinkable happened...I woke up Sunday morning, to one of the the worst pains I've ever felt in my eye...this is even after I broke my ribs twice, 3 knee surgeries, and a sinus surgery...I'm telling you I thought I was going to die, with this eye issue....after an ER trip to two different hospitals, I found out I tore my cornea...no permanent vision loss was expected, just need to keep it shut and stay indoors in the dark and in a week or so I was pretty much back to normal. My vision did change a bit, but all was well in Kayla's eyes!
