Wow...I've been terrible, again, at this blog thing...thanks for hanging in there while I figure out what exactly my life has come too! Quick update before I get into what I've been thinking about lately...
Anziano Dunn (aka my little brother Kevin) completed his time at the MTC (missionary training center) in Provo, Utah...and has finally made his way over to the land of pasta...and fashion...Milan, Italy!!! His Itallian is sounding so good for just 6 weeks in the MTC and I can't believe how fast time has gone since he left...for those who don't know what a mission is click on this link --> LDS.org...anyways he is doing great, and I'm so proud of him for choosing to serve the Lord for 2 full years!
Okay, well timing...it can be a fickle thing don't you think? It can be the difference between life and death for some...almost and forever for others or a completely different life. Timing can be unfair, and it can hurt...it can really destroy some people, or it build you up. I am a firm believer that God's timing is absolutely perfect...and for some that is the most frustrating sentence in the entire universe...it is questioning why a 9 year old little boy died because brain cancer, but a serial rapist is still alive...but that is the funny thing about timing...we never really know why, the question is really always there...
It's funny to me that we celebrate birthdays, holidays, anniversaries, and other occasions dictated by time...but we don't celebrate wrinkles, smile lines, worn out hands, or grey hair. Instead we shun those things, trying to turn back the clock. Why then, are the larger anniversaries celebrated more heavily...doesn't that mean we're aging? Why then do we dye our hair when we spot grey...have we not lived a full life? We as humans pick and choose what parts of time we like and dislike, simply because they haven't treated us well.
If you think about it...I mean really think about it...time is the very essence of our being...we are all living, breathing creatures..created to live life, and part of living life, and I mean really living life...is celebrating time! We missed the bus because we were tying our shoe...but we met one of our life long friends while waiting for the next one. We woke up to a flat tire...but didn't get in a life threatening accident on the way to work. We met the love of our life because we were 5 minutes late to a lunch. It's weird to think about...maybe if we stop counting the amount of times timing wasn't on our side (like how I wasn't married by 22 and have a kid on the way..but I have a college degree...) or when you just want to scream because other people's timing seems so much better than yours...I get it! We've all been there...it's a lonely world when all your friends are in relationships and doing their own thing...or a couple is trying to have kids...and it just isn't happening for them yet.
The answer is!!! Just not yet...just not yet. I'm not sure if this whole thing even made sense...it's probably all over the place, but so is my life:) but honestly...sometimes timing is so unexpected it knocks the wind out of your sails and you realize how glad you are that timing wasn't completely on your side before...or maybe you realize thats exactly why it seemed like it wasnt. Because this good thing was supposed to happen to you...you will get your happy ending, whatever it may be...and yea getting old sucks. But you know what else does too? Not living a life because you're too worried about things being perfect all the time! Some of the best things in life happen by chance! Start living like it!!
Eat that last slice of Kake people! You deserve it!!!!
